Friedmar Erfurt

Friedmar Erfurt (born January 22, 1941 in Elsterberg ) is a German engineer, professor of technical mechanics and former rector of the Technical University of Chemnitz .

Life

Friedmar Erfurt studied applied mechanics at the Technical University of Dresden and received his doctorate in 1971 on the subject of the study of the machining process using the thermoviscoplasticity theory . From 1969 to 1975 he worked at the Institute for Machine Tools in Karl-Marx-Stadt.

From 1975 he worked as a senior scientific assistant at the Technical University of Dresden. In 1978 he completed his habilitation on the application of the separation method in shell theory . He then moved to the Technical University of Karl-Marx-Stadt, where he was appointed professor for technical mechanics in 1980 and full professor in 1982. In 1983 he took over the management of the Mechanical Components Section and was Vice-Rector for Science and Technology from 1987 to 1988 .

From 1989 to 1991 Friedmar Erfurt was rector of the Technical University of Chemnitz. On May 15, 1991, he was given immediate leave on suspicion of working for the Ministry of State Security .
