Christian Benjamin Schmidt

Christian Benjamin Schmidt (born June 22, 1783 in Thallwitz , † January 16, 1838 in Chemnitz ) was a German theologian , educator and first head of the Royal College of Chemnitz, the predecessor of the Technical University of Chemnitz .

Life

Schmidt studied theology at the University of Leipzig from 1808 . He then worked from 1812 as a teacher at the Latin school (Lyzeum) in Chemnitz , as a sub-rector of the community school and at the same time as head of the Progymnasium . With the opening of the Royal Trade School Chemnitz on May 2, 1836, Schmidt became its first head. However, he himself did not teach at the facility.
