Manfred Osten
Manfred Osten (born January 19, 1938 in Ludwigslust , Mecklenburg ) is a German author , lawyer and cultural historian .
Life
In 1952 he fled to the Federal Republic of Germany and graduated from high school in Bad Iburg , after which he studied law , philosophy , musicology and literature in Hamburg and Munich , as well as international law in Luxembourg . In 1969 he received his doctorate "On the concept of natural law in Schelling's early writings". In the same year he joined the Foreign Service , where he served in German diplomatic missions in Paris , Cameroon , Chad , Australia andJapan was active. In the meantime he was in charge of various departments in the ministry in Bonn (“Southern Africa”, “ Third World Policy” or “ Eastern Europe ”). From 1995 to 2004 he was Secretary General of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation .
He mainly publishes works on cultural studies and cultural history . In addition, he published the portrait collection of twelve writers in the country under the title "The eroticism of the peach".
He is married to Ute Osten, nee Haubitz; the two have three children.
