Mansueto Bianchi (born November 4, 1949 in Lucca , † August 3, 2016 in Rome ) was Bishop of Pistoia .

Life

Mansueto Bianchi studied at the Almo Collegio Capranica and at the Gregoriana in Rome and was ordained a priest on July 29, 1974 . He was Vice Rector of the Seminary and Lecturer in Sacred Scripture from 1977 to 1988. From 1984 to 2000 he was Director of the Diocesan Theological School and since 1988 Episcopal Vicar for the Laity.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Volterra on March 18, 2000 . The Archbishop of Lucca , Bruno Tommasi , donated him episcopal ordination on May 3rd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Alessandro Plotti , Archbishop of Pisa , and Teresio Ferraroni , former Bishop of Volterra. As a motto he chose In lumine fidei . Among other things, it was President of the Episcopal Commission for Ecumenism and Dialogue of the Italian Bishops' Conference.

On November 4, 2006 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Pistoia and introduced to office on December 16, 2006. He was Vice-President of the Episcopal Conference of Tuscany and a member of the Episcopal Committee on Culture and Social Communication and Chairman of the Committee for the Evaluation of Intervention Projects for the Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage.

On April 5, 2014, Pope Francis accepted his early resignation. On the same day he was appointed National Ecclesiastical Assistant of the Italian Catholic Action ( Azione Cattolica Italiana ) by Francis .

Mansueto Bianchi died in August 2016.
