Marcel Lewandowsky

Marcel Lewandowsky (born April 22, 1982 in Cologne ) is a German political scientist .

Life

Lewandowsky studied political science , modern history and public law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the University of Birmingham from 2002 to 2007 . From 2004 to 2012 he was a scholarship holder of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation . He did his doctorate in 2012 under Frank Decker with an examination of the state election campaigns in North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Württemberg and Saxony-Anhalt.

From 2012 to 2013 Lewandowsky was a research fellow at the Political Science Institute of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg and at the same time a member of the Lüneburg Center for Research on Democracy . From 2013 to 2019 he was a research assistant with Florian Grotz at the Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg . In 2019 he was briefly appointed deputy professor for public policy and state politics at the NRW School of Governance , a political science institution at the University of Duisburg-Essen , for the summer semester .

Lewandowsky has been a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Center for European Studies at the University of Florida in Gainesville as part of the German Academic Exchange Service since 2019 . His main research interests are populism , political participation , parties and party systems as well as administrative policy at the state level .

Lewandowsky occasionally appears as an expert on current political issues in media such as Westdeutscher Rundfunk , Deutschlandradio or Deutsche Welle .

Trivia

Lewandowsky is privately friends with the rapper and lyricist Schwartz . He dedicated his collection of poems Vantablack , published in 2018, to him. Lewandowsky is represented with his own poems in Schwartz's collection of poems, Skorpionmond .
