Marcus Darrel Ginyard (born May 8, 1987 in Rochester , New York ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Ginyard signed his first professional contract with the German first division promoted BBC Bayreuth in the 2010/11 basketball Bundesliga . After working in Israel , Poland and the Ukraine , he has been playing for the Polish master Stelmet Zielona Góra since March 2014.
Career
Ginyard went to study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , where he played for the prestigious college team Tar Heels in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) of the NCAA from 2005 . Ginyard won the ACC championship tournament in 2007 and 2008 with the " Kaderschmiede ", which also trained four players and coaches who were later inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and was placed in the "All- Defensive Team “2008 appointed by the ACC. At the beginning of his last season in the NCAA, the defensive specialist broke his foot and finally sat the entire season as "redshirted" so that he could complete another season in the NCAA. In this season of all times, the Tar Heels celebrated winning the prestigious national NCAA college championship . The following year, the defending champion was no longer invited to the finals and reached the final game with Ginyard in the National Invitation Tournament 2010, which was lost to the Flyers of the University of Dayton .
After Ginyard was not selected in the 2010 NBA draft by clubs from the highest endowed professional league, the NBA , he signed his first professional contract with the German first division promoted BBC from Bayreuth . In the basketball Bundesliga 2010/11 you could narrowly but successfully achieve relegation. In the following season 2011/12 Ginyard played in the second Israeli league Leumit for Ironi from Naharija . For the 2012/13 season he was then committed by the Polish first division Anwil from Włocławek . In the 2013/14 season, Ginyard first played in the Basketball Superliga Ukraine for BK Azovmash from Mariupol , before he left the country after the unrest in Ukraine and joined the Polish champions Stelmet from Zielona Góra in March 2014 .
