Marcus Lawler (born February 28, 1995 ) is an Irish sprinter .
Athletic career
Marcus Lawler gained his first experience at international championships in 2011 at the World Youth Championships near Lille , where he was eliminated in the semifinals in the 200-meter run with 21.81 s. He was then at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Trabzon over the same distance in 21.61 s fifth and retired with the Irish 4 x 100 meter relay with 42.67 s in the preliminary round. The following year he retired at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona with 21.58 s in the first round, before a year later at the Junior European Championships in Rieti he finished fourth in 20.99 s and with the relay with 40.60 s Prelim was eliminated. In 2014 he again took part in the Junior World Championships in Eugene , where he was eliminated again in the preliminary round with 21.58 s. The following year he was at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn in 20.94 s seventh over 200 meters and reached fifth place in the relay in 39.89 s.
In 2016 he took part in the European Championships in Amsterdam for the first time and reached the semi-finals there, where he was eliminated with 21.33 s. In addition, he could not qualify for the final with the Irish season with 39.52 s. The following year he took part in the 100-meter run at the Summer Universiade in Taipei , where he was eliminated in the quarter-finals with 10.70 seconds, before being eliminated in the first round of the 2018 European Championships in Berlin with 20.80 seconds. In 2019 he won the bronze medal at the Student World Games in Naples in 20.55 seconds behind the Brazilian Paulo André de Oliveira and Chederick van Wyk from South Africa.
In 2015 Lawler became the Irish champion in the 100 and 200 meters. In the hall he was champion in the 200 meters from 2014 to 2016 and in the 60 meter run in 2018 .
