Maria's Last Journey is a German television film released in 2005 that shows the last days of a farmer suffering from cancer. The script was written by Ariela Bogenberger and directed by Rainer Kaufmann . The farmer's actress is Monica Bleibtreu , who died in 2009 after suffering from cancer for many years. Maria's last trip has been awarded numerous prizes, including the German TV Prize for best TV film in 2005 and the Adolf Grimme Prize with gold.

Maria Stadler knows that she will die. The 71-year-old escapes chemotherapy with the terrible side effects and flees the clinic. Maria wants to die at home on the Staffelsee in Upper Bavaria .
Since son Simon cannot look after his mother, Maria is accompanied by the nurse Andrea. But Maria and Andrea quickly clash because the sister wants to regulate Maria's life.
When Maria had another breakdown, the clinic director Dr. Osterhahn again in the hospital. But Sister Andrea immediately brings the terminally ill back home.
Andrea learns to fulfill Maria's last wishes and helps her to take care of the last things in life.
