Mariette Hartley (* 21st June 1940 in Weston , Connecticut as Mary Loretta Hartley ) is an American actress .

Career

She began her career at a young age in the theater, where Eva Le Gallienne was her mentor. Her film career began in 1962 with the western film Sacramento by Sam Peckinpah . In 1964 she had a supporting role in Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie . In the same year Hartley had an appearance on the series Twilight Zone and played from 1966 to 1967 with Richard Mulligan in the only 16 episode long TV series The Hero .

In 1969, she appeared in the penultimate episode of Starship Enterprise , Portal into the Past , as Zarabeth, in which a love affair with Spock occurs. She played in the following years in some science fiction films such as Verschollen im Weltraum (1969), Earth II (1971) and in the television film Genesis II (1973). She starred in two Columbo episodes: 1974 Publish or Perish and 1977 Try and Catch Me .

On television, she played the role of Dr. in the series Peyton Place. Claire Morton. In 1978 she starred in the series Logan's Run . That same year, Hartley starred in two episodes of The Incredible Hulk as Dr. Carolyn Fields and won an Emmy Award for her acting . In 1983 Hartley starred alongside Bill Bixby on the sitcom Goodnight, Beantown . Since 2007 she has played the role of Dorothy Spiller in the television series Dirt .

Others

Mariette Hartley is the granddaughter of the famous psychologist John B. Watson . She suffered from bipolar disorder for some time, and in 1987 she helped set up the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention , a foundation for the prevention of those at risk of suicide. Hartley was married twice, from 1960 to 1962 to John Seventa and from 1978 to 1996 to Patrick Boyriven , the director of "Incredible Hulk" . Hartley has two children from his marriage to the latter.
