The Marine Corps Base Quantico ( (MCB) Quantico ) near Fredericksburg in Prince William County , Virginia , is one of the largest bases of the US Marine Corps . The base is one of the main training centers and covers over 255 square kilometers . A replica of the US Marine Corps War Memorial stands at the base entrance. The city of Quantico is surrounded by the base and the Potomac River . Access to the city is only possible through the base or across the river.

Stationed units

In 1942 the Special Activities Branch (SOE) of the Office of the Coordinator of Information opened a training center for Subversion here .
