Marino Alonso (born November 11, 1965 in Zamora , Zamora province ) is a former Spanish cyclist .
Athletic career
In 1985 Marino Alonso received his first contract with Team Fagor , the following season he moved to Teka , where he stayed until 1989. In 1988 he went to the road world championships and was 69th in the road race.
From 1990 to 1998 Alonso was part of the Banesto team , where he was the domestics of the five-time Tour de France winner Miguel Indurain until his resignation . By the end of his cycling career in 1998, he took part in 18 major national tours , but only in the Tour and the Vuelta a España , not the Giro d'Italia . In 1993 and 1994 he won a stage at the Vuelta. He took part in the 1996 Olympic Games in road racing and finished 101st.
In addition, Alonso achieved numerous stage wins, especially in Spanish tours. In 1989 he won the Vuelta a Murcia and in 1994 the Vuelta a Aragón . Twice - 1995 and 1997 - he won the one-day race Trofeo Luis Ocaña .
