The 43rd Vuelta a España was held in 21 sections and 3440 kilometers from April 25th to May 15th, 1988 . The winner was the Irish Sean Kelly , the points classification and the combination classification also went to Sean Kelly, the mountain classification won Álvaro Pino . Miguel Ángel Iglesias won the Meta Volantes classification , José Enrique Carrera in the Sprint Especiales classification , Carlos Muñiz in the youth classification and the BH Sport team in the team classification .
