The 39th Vuelta a España was held in 21 sections and 3593 kilometers from April 17 to May 6, 1984 . The winner was the Frenchman Éric Caritoux , Felipe Yáñez won the mountain classification and Guido Van Calster won the points classification . Jozef Lieckens won the Meta Volantes classification , Jesús Suárez Cuevas in the Sprint Especiales classification , Edgar Corredor in the junior classification and Team Teka in theTeam ranking .
