Mario Cingolani

Mario Cingolani (born August 2, 1883 in Rome , † April 8, 1971 ) was an Italian politician of the Democrazia Cristiana (DC), who was among other things minister of aviation and defense .

Life

After attending school, Cingolani completed a chemistry degree at La Sapienza University .

He became a member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Camera dei deputati ) of the Kingdom of Italy on December 1, 1919 and belonged to it from the 25th to the end of the 27th legislative period on January 29, 1929. During this time he served between February 26 and October 28, 1922 as Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Labor in the first and second cabinets of Prime Minister Luigi Facta .

After the end of the Second World War , he became a representative of the Democrazia Cristiana on September 25, 1945, a member of the National Council (Consulta Nazionale) and then on June 25, 1946 a member of the Constituent Assembly (Assemblea Costituente) , of which he was a member until March 31, 1948 . During his membership in the Constituent Assembly, he was a member of the electoral committee between June and July 1946.

Then Prime Minister Alcide De Gasperi appointed him on July 13, 1946 as Minister of Aviation (Ministro dell'Aeronautica) in his second cabinet , to which he belonged until February 2, 1947. He then acted from February 12, 1947 as vice chairman of the DC faction in the Constituent Assembly.

A few months later, on May 31, 1947, Cingolani took over the post of Minister of Defense (Ministro della Difesa) in the fourth cabinet of Prime Minister De Gasperi and held this position until December 15, 1947. At the same time he was since July 1947 a member of the Interior Committee.

On March 31, 1948, Cingolani became a member of the newly created Senate ( Senato della Repubblica ) and was a member of this as a representative of the DC from the first to the end of the fourth legislative period on June 4, 1968. During his membership in the Senate he was from October 1953 to May 1963 a member of the Committee for the Supervision of Broadcasting (Commissione parlamentare per la vigilanza sulle Radiodiffusione) .
