Mark Arenhövel

Mark Arenhövel (* 1959 in Münster ) is a German political scientist with a research focus on political , democracy , transition and transformation theory as well as memory and history politics . He has been an adjunct professor at TU Dresden since 2012 and has been the professor for political theory and the history of ideas since April 2019 .

Life

Arenhövel completed a master's degree in political science, sociology and journalism at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and received his doctorate in 1997 from the Justus Liebig University in Giessen on the subject of “Transformation and Consolidation in Spain and Chile. Strategies of Democratization ”for a doctorate in social sciences (Dr. rer. Soc.) In 2002 he completed his habilitation there on the subject of“ Global Governance. New descriptions of democracy in world society ”and was subsequently from 2005 to 2010 as a DAAD visiting professor at the Sofia University“ St. Kliment Ohridski "active. During this time he was also the academic director of the Center for German and European Studies ZEDES-Germanicum Sofia.

Mark Arenhövel has been an adjunct professor at the Technical University of Dresden since 2012. There he initially worked at Hans Vorländer 's professorship for political theory and the history of ideas , before taking on the position of professor for international politics in September 2016 after Eugénia da Conceição-Heldt left and held it until Anna Holzscheiter took over in May 2019 .
