Mark Friedberg

Mark Friedberg (* in New York ) is an American production designer who prefers to work with Wes Anderson , Ang Lee and Todd Haynes .

Life

After his time at college Friedberg worked as a painter. This was followed by a work for Another Woman in 1988 and a first paid contract for the film New York Stories by Woody Allen and Francis Ford Coppola , for which he made African masks. In addition to working as a set designer for films by friends, Friedberg worked in the following years in particular with the directors Wes Anderson , Ang Lee and Todd Haynes , for example in 1997 for The Ice Storm by Lee and in 1999 for Ride with the Devil, also by Lee. This was followed by work for Pollock by Ed Harris in 2000, Heaven So Far from Todd Haynes in 2002 and The Deep Sea Divers by Wes Anderson in 2004, with whom he also worked three years later on the film Darjeeling Limited . He then designed the production design for the musical Across the Universe by Julie Taymor .

For his work on the television series Mildred Pierce , Friedberg received an Emmy award in 2011 in the Outstanding Art Direction for a Miniseries or Movie category. This was followed by work for the 2014 films The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro by Marc Webb and Noah by Darren Aronofsky . Most recently Friedberg worked for the films Paterson by Jim Jarmusch , The crazy heroic tour of Billy Lynn by Ang Lee, Wonderstruck by Todd Haynes and Mein Bester & Ich by Neil Burger .
