Martin Bogdanow , also written Martin Bogdanov , Bulgarian Мартин Богданов , (born February 14, 1986 in Sofia ) is a former Bulgarian biathlete .

Martin Bogdanow is a student, lives and trains in his hometown Sofia. The starter of the National Sports Academy has been practicing the sport since 1998, and has been a member of the Bulgarian national team since 2001. He has been competing in international junior races since 2003. In 2003 in Kościelisko , 2004 in Haute-Maurienne , 2005 in Kontiolahti and 2007 in Martell , he took part in the Junior World Championships. The best results were 28th places in the individual 2004 and the sprint 2005. At the Junior European Championships Bogdanow competed in Forni Avoltri in 2003 , in Langdorf in 2006 and in Bansko in 2007 . He achieved his best results in Bansko. With the relay, the Bulgarian was fifth, 18th in the individual and 24th in the sprint race. Between 2003 and 2007 he also competed regularly in the Junior European Cup and achieved several top ten results. The best individual result was a fourth place in the mass start of Gurnigel 2006, as well as a second place with the relay in 2007 in Forni Avoltri. Here he competed with Krassimir Anew and Wladimir Iliew , with whom he passed through the various grades over the years.

In the men's area, Bogdanow made his debut at the end of the 2006/07 season in Lahti in the Biathlon World Cup and was 86th of the sprint. In the summer he took part in the World Championships in Summer Biathlon 2007 in Otepää , took 20th place in the sprint in the roller- ski competitions and was 26th in the pursuit race. At the Biathlon World Championships 2008 in Nové Město na Moravě , the Bulgarian reached the ranks 27th in the individual and 64th in the sprint. In spring he took part in the Open Balkan Championships in Biathlon 2008 and just missed a medal in fourth place. In the 2008/09 season Bogdanow started regularly in the World Cup. At first he could only bring moderate performance, but improved over the course of the season and was rewarded with the nomination for the 2009 Biathlon World Championships in Pyeongchang . At the competitions in South Korea he was used in singles and sprints, where he was 85th and 81st. The best World Cup result for a long time was 63rd place, which he achieved in the 2009 Antholz sprint . Bogdanow took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He started in the individual and finished 84th. In Presque Isle in 2011 he was able to improve his best performance in the World Cup in a sprint race to a 52nd place.

In addition to biathlon races, Bogdanow occasionally also competes in cross-country skiing . He mainly competes in the Balkan Cup and FIS races and has been able to place in single-digit ranks there again and again. At the Bulgarian Championships in Borovets in 2008 , he won the sprint title.
