Martin Clasen

Martin Carl Clasen (born August 10, 1882 in Reinfeld (Holstein) ; † November 9, 1962 there ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman, genealogist and local researcher.

Life

Martin Clasen was a son of the Reinfeld doctor Ernst Clasen (1849–1931) and his wife Adele, born. Nobbe (1848-1921). He attended the Christianeum until his Abitur in 1900 and studied Protestant theology , German and history at the universities of Leipzig , Marburg and Kiel . In Leipzig he joined the Association of German Students .

After his theological examination in Kiel he was vicar in Hanerau-Hademarschen . In 1908 he was ordained pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schleswig-Holstein ; he received his first pastor in Neustadt (Holstein) . On June 1, 1924, he returned to Reinfeld, where he held office at the Reinfeld Church , which he named Matthias Claudius Church in 1940 , until his retirement in 1947. Within the church, he was committed to the Gustav Adolf Work .

Clasen was a member of the board of the Reinfeld tourist office and author of numerous articles on the history of Reinfeld and his monastery .

He was a descendant of Martin Luther and from 1920 to 1960 chairman of the Lutherid Association .

Since 1910 he was with Anna, geb. Meyer (1890–1980) married. The couple had a daughter and four sons, including the educator Adolf Clasen .

The collection he left behind on the history of Schleswig-Holstein , the Stormarn district , Lower Saxony , Lübeck , Hamburg and Zarpen, as well as material on Zarpen, is kept in the Schleswig-Holstein State Archives .
