Martin Richard Schelleis (born October 15, 1959 in Düren ) is a German lieutenant general in the air force of the Bundeswehr and inspector of the armed forces base .

Military career

Training and first uses

Schelleis joined the Bundeswehr in 1978 as an officer candidate . After basic training in Roth , officer training followed at the Luftwaffe officer school in Fürstenfeldbruck . From 1979 to 1983 he studied economics and organizational science (WOW) at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . The degree in business administration followed from 1983 to 1986 pilot training in Sheppard AFB , USA , Fürstenfeldbruck, at the Tri-National Tornado Training Establishment in Cottesmore, UK, and in Jever on the Panavia Tornado aircraft . From 1986 to 1991 several uses followed with the Jagdbombergeschwader 32 , Lechfeld . From 1991 to 1993 he was employed as a squadron captain and flight instructor , in the 1st squadron of Fighter Bomber Wing 38 , Jever.

General staff training and service as a staff officer

After taking part in the 38th General Staff Officer Course at the Command Academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg from 1993 to 1995, Schelleis was employed as Staff Officer Planning, Combined Joint Planning Staff at SHAPE , Mons in Belgium. In 1997 Schelleis was transferred to Bonn as a consultant in the air force command staff in the Federal Ministry of Defense (Fü L II 1) , which was followed in 1999 by another ministerial appointment as a consultant in the planning staff, BMVg Berlin . In 2001, Schelleis received another assignment as Deputy Commodore of Fighter Bomber Wing 33 , Büchel , who was then appointed Commodore of JaboG 33 in 2002. During this time, Schelleis also became commodore of Einsatzgeschwader 2 and commander of Kabul International Airport (AFG) as part of the ISAF mission . From 2006 to 2009 he was employed as Deputy Division Head J5 in the Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum , Brunssum (NLD). During this time (2007–2008) the second ISAF assignment took place in the Chief Information Coordination Branch in the ISAF HQ, Kabul , AFG.

General uses

From 2009 to 2012 Schelleis was head of the department for conception, management and deployment of the Air Force (StAL Fü L III) in the BMVg, Bonn. During this time, Schelleis was also entrusted with the management of the Federal Armed Forces Structural Reform Task Force, and in April 2012 he became Head of Organization and Revision at the BMVg. On April 29, 2013 Major General Martin Schelleis followed on the occasion of a handover appeals at JaboG 31, Peter Schelzig as commander of the LwFüKdo in Cologne-Wahn. On June 25, 2013, the Air Force Command was disbanded (effective June 30, 2013) and the new Luftwaffe Task Force Command put into service (effective July 1, 2013), and Schelleis became its first and only commander. On August 27, 2013, he was promoted to lieutenant general . After the Luftwaffe commando was dissolved, he became the commanding general and first commander of the Luftwaffe troop command on July 1, 2015 . He handed over the command to Helmut Schütz on September 24, 2015 . Schelleis has been the armed forces inspector since October 6, 2015.

Private

Schelleis is married and has two children.
