Martin Schoultz von Ascheraden , known as Freiherr Schulz, Herr auf Ascheraden or Marten Schoultz von Ascheraden (born June 12, 1617 , † March 16, 1682 in Narwa , Estonia ) was a Swedish - Baltic baron, general of the infantry and Swedish governor .

history

Ownership of the Ascheraden estate with Römershof, in today's Latvia , was confirmed in 1650 by the Swedish Queen Christina of Sweden (1626–1689). Martin was in the service of the Swedish Leibregiment until 1645 and was promoted to major there . 1649 was promoted to lieutenant colonel and in 1655 the entrance to the De la Gardie - Regiment . As further goods in Livonia , Martin bought Langholm Manor in 1651 and Salubben Manor in 1653, both of which are located near Ascheraden. From 1659, now a colonel , he served in the colonial squadron at the mouth of the Dunes and was its commander from 1661 while being promoted to major general . From 1674 he was governor in the province of Skåne . On April 18, 1675 he was raised to the Swedish baron class and was registered with the matriculation number 58 in the knight's house in Stockholm . On September 10, 1679 he was appointed general of the infantry. His next use as governor in Narva and over the province of Kexholm began in 1681. He died on March 16, 1682 and was buried in Narva.

Martin Schoultz von Ascheraden came from the originally Bohemian noble family von Schoultz. He is the third generation to follow his grandfather Hermann Schoultz, who immigrated to Livonia around 1589. Martin's father was Simon Schultz, Lord of Ascheraden (* around 1588), he received Ascheraden Castle from the Swedish King Gustav II Adolf (1594–1632). Martin married in 1st marriage Anna Magereta Zimmermann († 1664) and in 2nd marriage Elisabeth Gertrud von der Brüggen († 1663). The following offspring grew out of the first marriage:

  • Johann Heinrich Schoultz von Ascheraden (* around 1650), Swedish captain , without descendants
  • Gustav Schoultz von Ascheraden (* 1654, † July 17, 1677 died in the battle of Landskrona ), without descendants
  • Carl Friedrich Schoultz von Ascheraden (* 1656 in Ascheraden, † November 9, 1728), Swedish lieutenant, district administrator in Livonia ∞ first marriage to Margareta Cronstjerna († 1708) and second marriage to Margareta Gertrud de la Barre († 1725 )
  • Martin Simon Schoultz von Ascheraden (born January 4, 1660, † November 3, 1730), Swedish lieutenant general , governor in Wismar and Stralsund ∞ Anna Margareta von Kruse († 1738)
