Career
Matt Keith began his career as a hockey player with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League , for which he played from 1998 to 2002 for a total of four years. During this time, the center was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2001 in the second round as a total of 59th player by the Chicago Blackhawks . The 2002/03 season began the right-handed shooter with the Chiefs, but he moved to league rivals Red Deer Rebels during the season . Before the 2003/04 season , Keith was added to the squad of the Norfolk Admirals from the American Hockey League . In addition to his missions for the Blackhawks farm team , the attacker made his debut in the National Hockey League for Chicago in the same year . Although he played 20 NHL games with the Blackhawks in his first season, Keith continued to work mainly for their farm team in the following two years.
On December 28, 2006, the Canadian was given to the Anaheim Ducks together with Sébastien Caron and Chris Durno in exchange for Pierre Parenteau and Bruno St. Jacques . In the following two seasons, however, he played exclusively for the Ducks AHL farm team, the Portland Pirates . In exchange for Darryl Bootland , the striker was transferred to the New York Islanders on January 9, 2008 , where he played 42 games in the AHL for the farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers , by the end of the season .
After three NHL appearances for the Islanders, Keith signed a contract with ERC Ingolstadt from the German Ice Hockey League on July 25, 2008 . After a season in the DEL, he moved back to North America and played for the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL. For the 2010/11 season he signed a contract with the Abbotsford Heat . After a one-year engagement with the Swedish second division club Örebro HK , Keith was signed by HC Energie Karlovy Vary from the Czech extra league in July 2012 , but left the club after four competitive games and was signed by the Dornbirn EC from the Austrian ice hockey league . In summer 2013 he moved to EC Red Bull Salzburg within the EBEL .
