Pierre-Alexandre "PA" Parenteau (born March 24, 1983 in Hull , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 511 games for the Chicago Blackhawks , New York Rangers , New York Islanders between 2000 and 2018 , Colorado Avalanche , Canadiens de Montréal , Toronto Maple Leafs , New Jersey Devils and Nashville Predators in the National Hockey League on the position of right winger . His cousins Pierre-Marc Bouchard and François Bouchard are also ice hockey players.

Career

Parenteau played as a youth in the Canadian junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec for three different teams. In the 2001 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim .

After two more seasons in the LHJMQ Pierre began his professional career in the AHL - farm team of the Ducks in Cincinnati , the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks . In December 2006 he was transferred to the Chicago Blackhawks after a total of four years in the AHL . For the Blackhawks Parenteau could play his first games in the National Hockey League . Shortly before the start of the 2007-08 season , he was sent to the New York Rangers for a draft pick. There he developed in their farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack , to a top scorer in the American Hockey League. In October 2009 Parenteau was appointed to the Rangers NHL squad and scored in his first game for the Rangers. In July 2010 he moved to the New York Islanders .

On July 1, 2012, Parenteau signed a four-year contract with Colorado Avalanche that guaranteed him an annual salary of $ 4 million. Parenteau was used in all 48 games of the season shortened by a lockout before the start of the season and scored 43 points scorer . He was together with Matt Duchene the most successful points collector of the Avalanche this season; his 18 goals scored were the most within the team. After another season in Denver, the Avalanche transferred him together with a five-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2015 to the Canadiens de Montréal in exchange for Center Daniel Brière .

After a season with the Canadiens, they bought him out of his remaining year contract (buy-out) , so that he was initially looking for a new employer. He found this a few days later in the Toronto Maple Leafs , with which he signed a one-year contract. After that, Parenteau returned to the New York Islanders. Without completing a competitive game for the team, he was signed by the New Jersey Devils shortly before the start of the season in October 2016 via the waiver . After half a year, the Devils separated from him when they transferred him to the Nashville Predators for a six- round suffrage in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft . With the Predators he reached the Stanley Cup final, but lost there to the Pittsburgh Penguins .

After the Predators did not subsequently renew his expiring contract, the striker was looking for a new team as a free agent . In September 2017 Parenteau received a trial contract from the Detroit Red Wings , but this did not result in a firm commitment. At the beginning of November 2017 Parenteau was signed by Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg from the KHL . There he spent the 2017/18 season and then ended his active career at the age of 35.
