Matthias Knossalla (born February 12, 1984 in Limburg an der Lahn ) is a German triathlete and trainer . He is German runner-up in the long distance duathlon (2017). He also works as a keynote speaker , entrepreneur and trainer .

Career

Matthias Knossalla operates Triathlon since 2008. At the same time he studied at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , the study sports science and graduated in 2011 from. At the Ironman Frankfurt 2013 he qualified with a third place in the age group 25-29 for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii .

He has been a professional triathlete since 2014 and took second place behind double world champion Michael Raelert at Ironman 70.3 Rügen in the same year .

He has started as a professional since 2015, qualified for the first time in the same year for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Zell am See and ended up in 31st place in the elite category.

In 2016 Knossalla took second place in the professional field of the Challenge Denmark with a personal best in the long distance of 08:19:04 hours and also came second in the Challenge Samorin over the middle distance in the same year . In the following year 2017, Knossalla achieved the German runner-up title in the long distance duathlon at Powerman in Ulm .

In 2018 Matthias Knossalla acted as an expert for the ZDF WISO documentary "My first marathon". Since 2018 he has been a columnist for the Frankfurter Neue Presse on the subject of "The world of a professional triathlete".

In February 2019 Matthias Knossalla founded the consulting company necstwerk.com together with his wife Susanne . He lives in Wiesbaden .
