Maxime Lajoie (born November 5, 1997 in Québec City , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League since October 2016 and for their farm team, the Belleville Senators , in the American Hockey League is used.
Career
Maxime Lajoie was born in Québec City and grew up in Calgary , among other places . There he played in his youth for the Calgary Royals , before he moved to the Swift Current Broncos in the Western Hockey League (WHL), the highest-ranking junior league in the region, at the end of the 2013/14 season . In the Broncos jersey, the Canadian established himself as an offensive defender and consistently recorded around 40 scorer points per season. In addition, the Ottawa Senators selected him in the NHL Entry Draft 2016 in 133rd position and provided him with an entry contract in October of the same year .
At the beginning of the 2017/18 season, Lajoie switched to the Senators' organization and from then on was employed by their farm team , the Belleville Senators from the American Hockey League (AHL). At the same time, the defender completed a game for the Brampton Beast in the third-class ECHL . As part of the preparation for the 2018/19 season, he finally won a place in Ottawa's squad and made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) in early October 2018 . In his first six NHL games, he recorded seven scorer points for the Senators.
