Max Penkert

Max Penkert (born April 20, 1877 in Artern , † January 31, 1955 in Magdeburg ) was a German gynecologist and obstetrician .

Life

Max Penkert studied medicine at the Universities of Marburg , Berlin and Greifswald . He was a member of the Corps Hasso-Nassovia and Borussia Greifswald . In 1900 he received his doctorate and worked from 1900 to 1902 at the Pathological Institute in Greifswald under Paul Grawitz . In 1903 Penkert moved to the Halle Hygiene Institute under Carl Fraenkel and in the following year to the Halle University Women's Clinic under Ernst Bumm and Johann Veit , where he began his gynecological training. He completed this at the University Women's Clinic in Freiburg with Bernhard Krönig . From 1913 to 1945 Penkert headed the gynecological and obstetric department of the Kahlenbergstift in Magdeburg . From 1945 to 1946 he was the acting chief physician of the Magdeburg-Sudenburg Municipal Women's Clinic , which was later integrated into the Magdeburg Medical Academy as Women's Clinic II . In 1946, at the age of 69, he took over the management of the midwifery school and the state women's clinic in Magdeburg . He played a decisive role in the reconstruction of this facility after the war and remained its director until 1950. His successor was Josef-Peter Emmrich (1909–1963). Max Penkert died in Magdeburg in 1955 at the age of 77.

Max Penkert was the eldest son of the resident doctor in Artern , then the district surgeon of the Sangerhausen district and later the royal Prussian government and secret medical councilor , Ludolf Penkert (born December 20, 1844 in Sangerhausen; † May 1, 1904 in Merseburg ) and his wife Anna born Haussknecht (born February 7, 1852 - † February 18, 1912 in Merseburg).

Max Penkert was born with Wanda Nauck (born December 10, 1883 in Groß Schönfeld ) married. The couple had three children.
