Maximilian von Pfuel

Maximilian Robert Ernst Georg von Pfuel (born August 27, 1854 in Jahnsfelde , Lebus district , † August 10, 1930 in Bad Salzschlirf ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

origin

Maximilian came from the Jahn fields line the old, in the Brandenburg Switzerland -based noble family of Pfuel . He was the son of the Prussian Second Lieutenant a. D. Ernst Gebhard Nicolaus Lebrecht von Pfuel (1817–1903) and his wife Marie Natalie, née Pabst (born October 17, 1829) as well as the nephew of Major General Wolf von Pfuel and the cousin of General Curt von Pfuel . The Prussian Prime Minister General  Ernst von Pfuel was his grandfather. His great-grandfather Ludwig von Pfuel , was the court marshal of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia .

Military career

In 1880 Pfuel became a one-year-old volunteer in the 94th Infantry Regiment in Weimar , in 1882 a lieutenant in the 7th Jäger Battalion , promoted to captain in 1892 and in 1896 as a company commander in the 63rd Infantry Regiment . In 1902 he was promoted to major in Grenadier Regiment No. 10. In 1903 he was battalion commander in Grenadier Regiment No. 2 , and in 1908 Lieutenant Colonel in Grenadier Regiment No. 3 . During the First World War , Pfuel served as major general and commander of the 30th Infantry Brigade ( see Battle of Neufchâteau , 1914). Most recently he was in command of the 96th Reserve Infantry Brigade and was promoted to lieutenant general in 1918.

family

Maximilian married Ella Emma Karoline Luise von Poser and Groß-Naedlitz on October 3, 1891 in Bingerau (June 29, 1870–1962). The couple had no children.

Honors

He was Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John (1918).
