The Maxwehr is a weir system on the Isar in the urban area of Landshut . At the weir on the Great Isar, electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station owned by the Landshut municipal utility .
history
A previous building was built in 1810 in the Isar by the architect Wiebeking. The Maxwehr, dating from the second half of the 19th century, was taken over by Stadtwerke Landshut in 1930 and a new hydropower plant was installed in 1954.
The power plant was renovated from May to October 2016. Among other things, the surrounding walkways were renovated, windows and doors were renewed and the facade and the interior of the generator hall were painted. The flat roof got a new emergency drainage. The costs for this amounted to 750,000 euros.
Technical specifications
An average of 30 million kilowatt hours of electricity are generated each year. With an average consumption of 3,500 kWh of electricity, around 8,500 households can be supplied with electricity.
