The Ludwigswehr is a weir system on the Isar in the urban area of Landshut . It serves to divert water from the Isar into the Kleine Isar . At the weir, electricity is generated in a hydropower plant owned by Stadtwerke Landshut.

history

The Ludwigswehr, which dates from the first half of the 19th century, was provided with a hydroelectric power station (two turbines, 613 hp) in 1921. In 1982 the new Ludwigswehr was built with today's hydroelectric power station. In 1998 the power plant was acquired by Stadtwerke Landshut. At the end of 2010, a fish ladder was installed at the entrance to the Kleine Isar about 30 meters below the power plant turbine . This measure will restore the biological patency of the Isar.
