The Pfrombach power plant is a hydropower plant on the Middle Isar Canal near Pfrombach , a district of Moosburg an der Isar in the Freising district .

It is one of the run -of-river power stations that form the power station stairs on the Mittlere-Isar Canal . The power plant, which opened in 1929, was built as part of the second construction phase of the canal by Mittlere Isar AG , which was later taken over by Bayernwerk , which was merged into E.ON in 2000 , the parent company of the former operator E.ON Wasserkraft GmbH , from which it operated Conversions to Uniper Kraftwerke GmbH took place .

From the intake structure, the upstream water is directed in 16 pressurized water channels over a gradient of 22 m to eight Francis turbines in the machine hall that is perpendicular to the channel. The turbines are arranged together with the two generators on an 85 m long shaft , with which three-phase current with 50 Hertz for the public line network or single-phase current for the Deutsche Bahn is generated, as required . A special feature is the rotating converter, which supplies single-phase electricity at 16 2/3 Hertz for the railway. The electrical output of the power plant is 22.3 MW. The annual production is 117 million kWh.

East of the machine hall is the so-called empty shot, a channel in which the water can be directed past the power plant.

Until a few years ago, the power plant still had its own control center, but as part of the power plant stairs it has always had to be controlled in harmony with the other power plants. For this purpose, it received the specifications from the Neufinsing power plant , in which all relevant data was coordinated. Later, the Pfrombach power plant, like all E.ON Wasserkraft power plants along the Middle Isar Canal, was centrally monitored and controlled by the Neufinsing power plant. Since May 1, 2011, all E.ON Wasserkraft power plants on the Isar, Lech and Danube have been controlled from their headquarters in Landshut . In the Pfrombach power plant, personnel are therefore only required for the necessary maintenance and repair work.

The power plant was the end point of the Altenerding – Pfrombach railway line that was built for construction .
