Medal table of the 2014 Winter Olympics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This table shows the medal table for the 2014 Winter Olympics . The placements are sorted by the number of gold medals won, followed by the number of silver and bronze medals. This corresponds to the system used by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Medal table

The table shows the status of March 29, 2019 after the subsequent withdrawal of medals and the subsequent decision of the International Court of Justice . Russia was originally in first place with 13 gold, eleven silver and nine bronze medals, but after withdrawing three gold, five silver and one bronze medals, it was now in third place. A large part of the medals revoked by Russia have been awarded to the athletes after the decision of the International Court of Justice on February 1, 2018. So far a silver medal (4 × 6 km biathlon relay women) is missing from the IOC results lists, which have not yet been corrected.

Withdrawal of medals due to doping affair

As a result of the systematic state doping in Russia, some Russian athletes were deleted from the results lists and their medals were revoked.

  • The Russian double Olympic runner-up Maxim Wylegschanin was subsequently disqualified for doping. However, on February 1, 2018, the CAS decided not to withdraw the silver medal.
  • The Russian two-man bobsleigh team with Alexander Subkow and Alexei Wojewoda and the four-man bobsleigh team were deprived of their gold medals for doping offenses on November 24, 2017.
  • In the skeleton, the Russian Olympic champion Alexander Tretyakov and the bronze medalist Jelena Nikitina were subsequently disqualified for doping.
  • The Russian biathletes Olga Wiluchina and Jana Romanowa were stripped of their silver medals for doping.
  • The Russian speed skater Olga Fatkulina was stripped of her silver medal on November 24, 2017 because of doping.
  • On December 22nd, the IOC revoked another two medals from Russia, in luge in the men's singles and in the team relay.
