The mhplus company health insurance fund is a German company health insurance fund based in Nuremberg . As carriers of the statutory health insurance is a public corporation with self-government . Liability carrier is the BKK Landesverband Bayern .

history

Mhplus was founded in 1952 as a health insurance company for Mann + Hummel GmbH, a supplier to the automotive industry based in Ludwigsburg; until 2001 it operated under the name BKK Mann + Hummel . In 1999, the previously exclusively company-related BKK opened up to all those with statutory health insurance.

On January 1, 2000, it merged with the Amann & Söhne company health insurance fund (Bönnigheim), on January 1, 2003, it merged with the BKK PWA (Raubling), and on January 1, 2006 with the BKK Conzelmann (Albstadt) and BKK TE KA DE- FGF (Nuremberg) and on October 1, 2007 with the BKK Hochrhein-Wiesental (Rheinfelden) in southern Baden, which got into difficulties due to financial irregularities and miscalculation of the contributions . The next merger with the BKK of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck on January 1st, 2008 expanded the catchment area to Schleswig-Holstein. On January 1, 2011, mhplus BKK merged with GBK Cologne .

Until April 18, 2017, the catchment area of ​​the mhplus BKK included all federal states except Berlin . The health insurance company has been open nationwide since the following day.

The Metzingen company health insurance fund and the mhplus BKK cooperated in an administrative community . On January 1, 2019, the Metzingen company health insurance fund was integrated into the Mhplus BKK.

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. Until December 31, 2014, the BKK did not levy any additional contribution that was independent of the health insurance fund . From January 1, 2015, it levied an income-related additional contribution of 0.9 percent of the contributory income. An additional contribution of 1.1 percent independent of income has been levied since January 2016. An additional contribution of 0.98 percent, independent of income, has been levied since January 2019.
