history

SS vacation home Solahütte before 1945

The place originated as a hamlet of Lipnik and was first mentioned in 1549. The first settlers were Jakub Łyka and his son, Grzegorz. The place was later called Międzybrodzie Lipnickie and belonged to the Starostei Lipnik until the partitions of Poland . Międzybrodzie Kobiernickie and Żarnówka were founded later and belonged to the Starostei in Zator . The name Międzybrodzie means a place between ( między ) fords ( bród ).

During the first partition of Poland in 1772 said places became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1858 the Roman Catholic parish was established (earlier the settlements belonged to Czaniec ).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, said places came to Poland. In 1923 they were united under the name Międzybrodzie Bialskie , after the town of Biała .

During the Second World War , the village belonged to the district of Bielitz in the administrative district of Katowice in the province of Silesia (since 1941 province of Upper Silesia ). In Międzybrodzie Bialskie there was a rest home called Solahütte (probably named after the Soła River). The Solahütte was used by members of the SS during the National Socialist era . This vacation home was built by a prisoner detachment from the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1942 under the direction of Franz Hößler .

From 1975 to 1998 Międzybrodzie Bialskie belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
