Michael Haunschmid (born December 31, 1989 ) is an Austrian football goalkeeper who last played at AEL Limassol in the Cypriot First Division , the top division in Cypriot football. Since summer 2017 he has been playing as an amateur for Wiener Viktoria.

Career

Youth and club career

Haunschmid began his active career as a soccer goalkeeper in 1996 in the youth division of SK Rapid Wien in the Austrian capital Vienna . There he went through all youth teams until 2007, but was awarded to various lower-class clubs to their combat team in his youth. From May to June 2006 he guarded the goal of FC Heidenreichstein in the Lower Austrian town of Heidenreichstein in the Gmünd district . After only a short stay and the return to his home club, Haunschmid moved in July 2006, again on loan, to the 1st Simmeringer SC in the fourth-class Vienna City League . At the club from the eleventh district of Vienna , Simmering , he came to several missions before he returned to Rapid Vienna in January 2007. After being registered with his home club on January 5th, it was awarded a second time just three days later. Haunschmids next stop was the DSV Fortuna 05 from the 19th district of Döbling . After almost six months at the Döblinger Sportvereinigung and returning home to SK Rapid Vienna, Haunschmid was in the squad of the club's Bundesliga team from the 2007/08 season . During the season he was behind Helge Payer , Raimund Hedl and Andreas Lukse as the fourth goalkeeper in the squad and had little chance of a professional appearance.

In the 5-1 home win over SV Horn on February 29, 2008, he finally made his team debut for the amateurs of SK Rapid Wien in the third-class Regionalliga Ost , the highest amateur division in the country. Until shortly before the end of the season, Haunschmid played nine championship games and received the red card in his last game on May 9, 2008 in a 3-2 away win over the Wiener Sportklub in the 47th minute for an assault. Besides him, three other members of his team were sent off early in the game.

During the summer break before the 2008/09 season , the then 19-year-old moved to Vorarlberg to SC Austria Lustenau . Haunschmid made his professional debut in the fifth round at the club, whose fighting team is in the second-rate first division . In the 2: 3 home defeat against FC Wacker Innsbruck , he came on in the tenth minute of the game for Andreas Morscher , who was out due to injury. Haunschmid played a total of ten league games for the Lustenau club from round 5 to round 14 . Furthermore, he completed the only game of SC Austria Lustenau in the ÖFB Cup 2008/09 , where he guarded the goal in the first round against FC Wels for over 120 minutes and the team was only eliminated from the competition after the penalty shoot-out.

At the beginning of July 2009, the club management threatened the young goalkeeper with a termination without notice, because he had played in a local club tournament without the permission of his club and was also abusive. At the club itself, he was usually more noticeable because of his antics than because of his achievements.

On August 3, 2009, Haunschmids move to Cyprus to AEL Limassol , which is playing in the top league, was announced. At the club he signed a one-year contract with a club-side option for a further three years.

International

Haunschmid already gained experience in the Austrian U-17 team . Furthermore, he was used in qualifying for the U-17 European Championship 2007 in Belgium and played against the Georgian U-17 national team, among others.
