Michael Kaplan
Michael Kaplan (born in Philadelphia in the 20th century ) is an American costume designer who has worked for the Hollywood film industry since the early 1980s .

Kaplan's first costume design for a motion picture was Ridley Scott's Blade Runner in 1983, which earned him a British Academy Film Award for best costume design. After that, Kaplan worked regularly for major Hollywood productions. He worked with David Fincher for the first time in 1995 for his film Seven , followed by Fight Club in 1996 and The Game in 1997. Armageddon followed in 1998 and Pearl Harbor in 2001 , both for director Michael Bay . His costume design for Mr. & Mrs. Smith won the 2005 Costume Designers Guild Award .
JJ Abrams engaged Kaplan in 2009 for Star Trek , his reboot of the Star Trek film series, in which he was responsible for the costume design and thus also for the design of the new Starfleet uniforms . Abrams also hired him for his Star Wars sequel trilogy Star Wars: The Force Awakens , The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker .
