Michael Lejan (born May 2, 1983 in Soest , Germany ) is a Belgian soccer player .

Family and childhood

Michael Lejan is the son of a Belgian army member who was stationed in Germany. He had spent the first nine years of his life in Werl and two years in Siegen before he moved to Cologne because his father was transferred .

Career

society

Lejan began playing football in the youth of Blau-Weiß Werl and from 1992 he played in the offspring of the Sportfreunde Siegen . In the E-youth he was trained by Uwe Helmes , who later made contact with 1. FC Köln , in whose youth Lejan was accommodated. From 2002 he was used for the reserve team in the major league and in the regional league. In the 2003/04 season he was used twice by the professionals under Marcel Koller in the Bundesliga . After Cologne's relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga , Lejan received a professional contract, but injured himself in preparation for the season and was out for four months. Koller's successor Huub Stevens recommended Lejan match practice in the reserve team. He did not come to any further appearances in the professional team.

For the 2005/06 season he moved to the regional division Wuppertaler SV Borussia . As a regular he came first in the left midfield, later on the six and finally as a full-back. With his goal on the 9th match day of the 2006/07 season against Dynamo Dresden to 1-0 (final score 3-1), he was nominated for the goal of the week in the ARD Sportschau. With the WSV he finally rose to the 3rd division in 2008 and stayed in Wuppertal for another year .

In the summer of 2009, Lejan moved to league rivals VfL Osnabrück , where he signed a two-year contract and promoted to the second division with the club in 2010. The VfL rose again to the third division after the year. Lejan was no longer available to the team in the closing stages of the season after suffering a serious injury during training in March.

From the winter break 2011/12 Lejan played in the Regionalliga West for SC Fortuna Köln . With Fortuna, he failed in the 2012/13 season as second in the table, just short of promotion to the third division. In the summer of 2013 Lejan moved to the regional league team Alemannia Aachen . After two years, he joined league rivals FC Viktoria Köln for the 2015/16 season . After the end of the 2016/17 season, he ended his professional career and joined the district division FC Bensberg . For the 2018/19 season he moved to the district division SpVg. Porz.

National team

Lejan played in the age groups U-16 to U-19 in around 25 games (four goals) for the Belgian national team.
