Michail Kozhevnikov ( Russian Михаил Кожевников / Michail Koschewnikow; born October 29, 1981 in Leningrad , Russian SFSR ) is an Israeli national ice hockey player who has been with HC Bat Yam in the Israeli ice hockey league since 2014 . His twin brother Evgeni also played in Germany for many years and is also an Israeli national player.

Career

Michail Kozhevnikov began his career in his hometown of St. Petersburg and in 2000 switched to the Krefeld Penguins from the DEL , but was initially only used by their cooperation partner EV Duisburg in the Oberliga Nord . Then he was in the squad of the Augsburg Panthers and the Straubing Tigers in the 2nd Bundesliga , before he moved to the Hanover Scorpions in 2004 . Only in the 2006/07 season does Kozhevnikov make his final breakthrough in the German elite class.

For the 2007/08 season Kozhevnikov moved from Hanover to the Hamburg Freezers , which he left after a few weeks for EV Duisburg . After the Duisburg had to file for bankruptcy at the end of the 2008/09 season and were excluded from the DEL, Kozhevnikov joined the REV Bremerhaven from the 2nd Bundesliga. Via the Krefeld Pinguine and REV Bremerhaven he came to the Heilbronner Falken in 2011, with whom he played until 2013. Since 2014 he has been playing with his brother for HC Bat Yam in the Israeli ice hockey league . With the club he became Israeli champion in 2016 .

International

For the Israeli national ice hockey team , Kozhevnikov, like his brother, took part in the 2017 World Cup in Division II for the first time and was voted the best defender of the tournament.
