Mikhail Sergejewitsch Litwin ( Russian Михаил Сергеевич Литвин , English transcription Mikhail Litvin; born January 5, 1996 in Petropawl ) is a Kazakh sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter distance .

Athletic career

Mikhail Litwin gained his first experience at international championships at the 2013 World Youth Championships in Donetsk , where he was eliminated in the first round over 200 meters. In 2014 he was fourth in the 400-meter run at the Junior Asian Championships in Taipei and eighth in the Kazakh 4-by-400-meter relay. He then took part in the Junior World Championships in Eugene over 400 meters, but was disqualified there in the preliminary stages. In 2015 he was eliminated in the first round of the Asian Championships in Wuhan . In the summer he appeared with the relay at the Student World Games in Gwangju , but did not reach the final. In 2016 he won the bronze medal over 400 meters at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha .

In 2017 he again took part in the Student World Games in Taipei and this time finished seventh in the final. With the season he could not reach the final of the top eight. At the beginning of September he won the bronze medal over 400 meters at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat and had to cancel the preliminary run with the 4 x 400 meter relay. In 2018 he took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran and won the silver medal with the Kazakh relay and finished fourth in the individual competition. A month later he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and was eliminated there with 47.94 s in the semifinals. In late August he qualified for the first time for the Asian Games in Jakarta , where he finished sixth in 46.17 s. In addition, he won the bronze medal behind Bahrain and India with the mixed 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 19.52 minutes. In 2019, Bahrain was disqualified and Kazakhstan was awarded the silver medal. At the Asian Championships in Doha in 2019 , Litwin won the bronze medal in the 400-meter run with a personal best of 45.25 seconds. In addition, he finished fourth with the mixed relay in 3: 20.73 min. He then retired at the World Relays in Yokohama in the mixed relay with 3: 24.54 minutes in advance and then won the silver medal behind the Mexican Valente Mendoza in 45.77 seconds at his third summer Universiade in Naples , before he did finished eighth with the Kazakh 4 x 400 meter relay with a new national record of 3: 07.66 min. In 2015 and from 2017 to 2019 Litwin was Kazakh champion outdoors over 400 meters and in 2018 indoors. In 2019, he also won the 800-meter run indoors . He completed a coaching course at the State University of North Kazakhstan in Petropavl.
