Michelbach is a district of Gaggenau in the Baden-Württemberg district of Rastatt . The once independent town, first mentioned in 1102, was incorporated into Gaggenau on January 1, 1975. The former municipality had an area of 6.20 km².
Location and transport links
Michelbach is located northeast of the core town of Gaggenau on the L 613 state road in the Michelbach valley , a right tributary of the Murg in the northern Black Forest . There is a regular bus 253 to Gaggenau (train station) or in the other direction to Moosbronn and Freiolsheim . To the northeast rises the 612 m high Mahlberg , northwest of the local mountain Bernstein ( 694 m ) with the Amber Rock. The narrowest point in the state of Baden , the so-called wasp waist, was near Michelbach.
Attractions
As a lovingly cared for half-timbered village with a historic town center, Michelbach has won awards in local beautification competitions . The local history museum , the village nature trail / circular route (approx. 15 km), the parish church with its historic fortified tower and the parish garden with its historic draw well are all worth seeing . The historic Michelbach – Moosbronn – Bernbach border route follows the old Baden-Württemberg state border.
