Migidio Bourifa

Migidio Bourifa (born January 31, 1969 in Casablanca , Morocco ) is an Italian marathon runner .

Life

Growing up in Bergamo , he first practiced karate in his youth before switching to mountain running and long-distance running .

At the World Half Marathon Championships in 1997 in Košice, he finished 52nd. In 1998 he ran at the Turin Marathon as seventh in the overall standings and first Italian, but was tested positive for amineptine during a doping control , so that he was disqualified and his Italian championship title was revoked. The two-year doping ban , which is actually due , was reduced to eight months by the national association because of “cooperative behavior”.

In 1999 he finished eighth in the Vienna City Marathon and fifth in the Venice Marathon . The following year he won the Maratona di Sant'Antonio in Padua, was fourth in Venice and came in 32nd at the Half Marathon World Championships in Veracruz . The following year he was second at the Maratona di Sant'Antonio, sixth in Venice and ran in at the Half Marathon World Championships in Bristol in 78th place. In 2002 a third place at the Paris Marathon followed , a tenth at the European Athletics Championships in Munich and a sixth at the Milan Marathon . In 2003 he finished second again in Padua and came in 53rd place at the World Athletics Championships in Paris-Saint-Denis .

In 2004 he finished second in Rome and fourth in Turin, in 2005 he won the Maratona d'Europa , and in 2006 he finished 23rd at the World Road Running Championships in Debrecen and fourth in Venice.

As fourth overall in the Rome Marathon , he was the first regular Italian champion in 2007. The following year he came 19th in Paris and came fourth in the Florence Marathon .

In 2009 he became national champion again as the overall winner of the Treviso Marathon , came second in the South Tyrol Marathon and took 13th place in the New York City Marathon .

In 2010 he finished seventh in Rome and at the European Championships in Barcelona .

Migidio Bourifa is 1.71 m tall and weighs 55 kg. He is trained by Massimo Magnani and starts for Atletica Valle Brembana. As the son of a Moroccan father and an Italian mother, he has dual citizenship.
