Miguel Maria Giambelli CRSP (born March 23, 1920 in Flero , Province of Brescia , Lombardy , Italy , † December 26, 2010 in Bragança , Pará , Brazil ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Bragança do Pará .

Life

Miguel Maria Giambelli joined the Congregation of Barnabites at and received on 4 July 1943, the priestly ordination . He went on the mission to Brazil and was one of the first clergy in the Guamá prelature at that time, the Pope Pius XII. transferred to the order of the Barnabites for administration and construction. Giambelli built the entire infrastructure of the region. In addition to the church administration, schools and hospitals as well as radio stations were built.

Pope John Paul II appointed him the first Bishop of Guamá on April 21, 1980 , after he had been administrator of the diocese from 1977 to 1980 and the territorial prelature until October 1979 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil , Archbishop Carmine Rocco , donated him episcopal ordination on June 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Alberto Gaudêncio Ramos , Archbishop of Belém do Pará , and Antônio Pedro Misiara , Bishop of Bragança Paulista . During his tenure, the diocese of Guamá was renamed into what is now the diocese of Bragança do Pará.

After his retirement on April 10, 1996 by Pope John Paul II because of his age-related resignation, he was hospital chaplain at the Santo Antonio Maria Zaccaria Clinic in Bragança do Pará .
