MinD game price
The MinD game award is a game award from the highly talented club Mensa in Deutschland eV (MinD). It was awarded for the first time in 2010, with the MinD game tip being awarded in parallel from 2010 to 2014 . Since 2015 there has only been the MinD game award, which is awarded in two categories.
The American section of Mensa International also awards an annual game prize: Mensa Select .
criteria
Awarded the MinD game prize are board games , which are not pure luck, knowledge, or children's games. Selection criteria are intellectual demands, the challenge of strategic and combinatorial thinking and quick comprehension, as well as high entertainment value. The games must appear in Germany within a specified period and still be included in the publisher's program. In the first three years, the current year was still excluded in contrast to other game prices, but this was changed with the 2013 election. The multi-year publication period was retained in order to give older games that needed their time to become known in cafeteria circles a chance.
Election mode
A small jury of cafeterias determines the nominated games in the two categories based on the above criteria. For those with a short playing time and a short set of rules, each canteen and each member of the MinD University Network (MHN) can determine their personal top 5 ranking. This is converted into points, whereby the personal favorite receives ten points, the second seven points, the third five points, the fourth three points and the bottom one another point. Each refectory and each MHN member may rate the complex games on two scales for entitlement (1–5 points) and replay incentive (1–10 points). The two games that received the most points are awarded the MinD game prize.
