history

Peter Eggert (right)

Eggertspiele was founded in 1996 by the game designer Peter Eggert in Hamburg and directed by him and Philipp El Alaoui. In August 2006 the company was entered in the commercial register under the name “eggertspiele oHG”.

The publisher published strategic and tactical author games with, according to their own statements, a low to no luck factor and simple, innovative mechanisms. At the beginning only games were published that Peter Eggert developed himself. In 2004, Neuland was the first game by another author to be published under the Eggertspiele label. The company has been recognized by game awards since 2006 with Antike and 2007 with Imperial . Particularly big successes were the Kennerspiel des Jahres for Village in 2012 and the main prize Game of the Year 2014 for the family game Camel Up .

Until the end of 2009, the games were distributed in Germany by Hutter Trade . From 2010 to 2011 Amigo was involved in Eggertspiele and also took over sales. After Amigo left, the company found a new partner in Pegasus Spiele , with whom the games should be published together.

In 2017 the Canadian company Plan B Games took over the publisher and has continued to run it as a brand since then, the collaboration with Pegasus remained.

2019 left Peter Eggert and Philipp El Alaoui their former publishing Eggertspiele / Plan B and founded early 2020, together with Viktor Kobilke and Matthias Nagy of Frosted Games and Karsten Esser and Andreas Finkernagel of Pegasus Games with Deep Print Games a new games publisher based in Berlin.
