Wolfgang Kramer (born June 29, 1942 in Stuttgart ) is a German game designer .


Kramer left high school after the eleventh grade to complete a commercial training. He then worked for the automotive supplier company Bosch for 27 years . In 1988 he resigned but was granted a three-year right of return. The trained business economist and computer scientist became self-employed and has been developing board and card games full-time since 1989 . He is considered one of the most important representatives of the internationally recognized German-language author's game .

In total, Kramer has published more than 100 games. He received the coveted Game of the Year award five times . Kramer has also made a name for himself as the author of puzzle books (“The Palace of Riddles”, “The Riddles of the Pyramid”).

One of the special features of Kramer games is that they are often created in collaboration with other authors. In 1989, Kramer founded the KRAG team to develop communicative games. The game of the year 1996 El Grande was developed together with Richard Ulrich , the games Tikal and Torres together with Michael Kiesling .
