Inka Brand (born March 19, 1977 ) and Markus Brand (born October 1, 1975 ) are a German game designer couple . Since 2006, over 40 jointly developed games have been published and several have been awarded various prizes.

In 2009 the game Burg der 1000 Spiegel and in 2011 the game Monsterfalle , both published by Kosmos , each received the German Children's Games Prize . In 2012, the game Village , published by Eggertspiele / Pegasus Spiele , was named Kennerspiel des Jahres 2012 by the Jury of the Game of the Year and won the German Games Prize 2012. The game The Enchanted Tower , published by Drei Magier Spiele , was named Children's Game of the Year in 2013 and In 2017, the first three parts of the game series Exit - Das Spiel were named Kennerspiel des Jahres. In addition, the pair won now three times that of the High IQ society Mensa in Germany eV published MinD game prize .

Life

Inka Brand is a trained hotel specialist and worked in a hotel for two years after completing her training. She then worked in a law firm as a secretary and in reception.

Markus Brand studied special education for one semester and then began training as an insurance salesman with a life insurer in Cologne in 1997, which he then completed. Since 2000 he has been running the insurance agency of his father, the former national handball trainer Heiner Brand .

Both met in 1999; In the same year they tested a game prototype at a game workshop and then decided to develop games as well. After several unpublished prototypes, the big dinosaur game was published by Kosmos in 2006 , which received 3rd place at the Swiss game award. In 2006 they won 2nd place with the prototype of Guatemala Café and in 2007 with Marburg they won 1st place in the Hippodice authors' competition . In the meantime, many games have been published by Kosmos, but also by other publishers.

Inka and Markus Brand married in 2000 and live and work together with their children Lukas (* 2000) and Emely (* 2002) in Gummersbach . The imaginary one of the two children Game cheat Motte was the Game of the Year jury on the recommendation list for children's game of the year set and won the German Children's Games Price 2012. 2017 appeared with the game cheat Hummel a successor, to cheat Motte builds .
