Mindaugas Pukštas

Mindaugas Pukštas (born August 3, 1978 in Domeikava , Kaunas district municipality ) is a Lithuanian long-distance runner .

Life

He won national titles once over 5000 m (2000), three times over 10,000 m (2000, 2001, 2005), four times in the 3000 m obstacle course (1999, 2001, 2002, 2005), four times in cross country (1999–2002) and once in a mountain run (2006). In the hall he was in 2001 Lithuanian champion over 1500 m , 2000, 2001 and 2002 over 3000 m and 1999, 2000 and 2001 over 2000 m obstacle.

In 2002 he was eighth over 3000 m at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Vienna . In 2004 he qualified with a third place in the Austin Marathon for the marathon of the Olympic Games in Athens , in which he suffered an upset stomach and came in 74th place.

In 2005 he finished eleventh at the Great Manchester Run and third at the Edinburgh Marathon and the Baltimore Marathon . In 2006, he finished ninth in the Houston Marathon half marathon and won Austin and Istanbul Marathons . The following year he suffered an extreme slump while trying to defend his title in Istanbul and came in 68th.

In 2009 he was hired as a pacemaker at the Houston Marathon and finished ninth.

Mindaugas Pukštas is married to Živilė Pukštienė (nee Žebarauskaitė), a multiple Lithuanian triple jump champion . The couple moved to the United States, where they first studied at Southern Methodist University and later at Oklahoma State University - Stillwater .
