Mohamed Simakan (born May 3, 2000 in Marseille ) is a French football player of Guinean descent who is under contract with the first division club Racing Strasbourg . He has been a French U20 international since September 2019 .
Career
society
Simakan began playing football at Vivaux-Marronniers Sports in his hometown of Marseille before moving to FC Rouguièr. There he scored 130 goals as a striker in one season. In 2010 he ended up in the renowned Olympique Marseilles youth department . At the age of 15 he left the academy and joined the amateur club SC Air Bel. There he convinced in the role of central defender and became captain of the U17 team. In February 2017, he impressed those responsible at Racing Strasbourg during a trial training session and switched to the Alsatian U19 team . There he quickly rose to the reserve and signed his first professional contract in May 2018. An advance in the first team was stopped in the summer of 2018 by a cruciate ligament injury.
On July 25, 2019, he made his debut in a 3-1 home win against Israeli club Maccabi Haifa in the second qualifying round for the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League for the first team. He was also used frequently in further qualifications and also won a regular place in the league, even though he switched between the positions of right full-back and center-back. He played 19 league games this 2019/20 season.
National team
Simakan has been working for the French U20 national team since September 2019 . Already in his debut game against Slovenia he scored a goal.
