Anthony Caci (born July 1, 1997 in Forbach , Moselle department ) is a French football player . He has played for Racing Strasbourg since his youth , has been playing in the professional team in various defensive positions since 2016 and also played two appearances for the French U21 national team .

Career

society

Caci was born in Forbach, Lorraine, on the German border and joined the Stade Olympique Merlebach during his childhood before joining the racing team at Racing Strasbourg at the age of 14 via ES Petite-Rosselle, EN Saint-Avold and SG Marienau Forbach . The club from Alsace , which had spent many years in Ligue 1 , the top French division, has only played second class since 2008 and Anthony Caci made his first appearances for the second division team there from summer 2016. First he ran there in the rather little noticed Coupe de la Ligue , after all, as a 19-year-old over the full playing time in the 0-2 away defeat against AJ Auxerre, who also slipped into the second division . In October he came, again against Auxerre, to a brief appearance in the league and in January 2017 he was on the field in the cup game against the fourth-class SAS Épinal , in which the team struggled to a 4-2 after extra time. Otherwise, Caci gathered his match experience in the second team. At the end of the season, Racing Strasbourg managed to return to Ligue 1 after nine years of abstinence. In the first year after promotion, Caci only made several games on the bench for the professionals. In the 2018/19 season , Caci finally played 29 times for the professional team in Ligue 1, partly in central defense and partly as a left-back. With his team, Caci reached a midfield position in the league and won the Coupe de la Ligue with the Alsatians. With this success in the League Cup competition, the Strasbourgers had qualified for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League . For Racing Strasbourg it was the first qualification for an international competition in 14 years; Anthony Caci was unable to take part in the tour of Haifa in Israel , Plovdiv in Bulgaria and to Eintracht Frankfurt due to an injury and when he recovered in October, his team had already been eliminated from the competition and the first nine match days of the 2019/20 season he had missed. Since his return to the field, he has mostly acted as a left-back.

National team

Anthony Caci played his first game for the French U21 national team on June 3, 2019 in a 3-0 win in Le Mans against Belgium. He played his second and last game on June 11, 2019 in a 3-1 defeat in a friendly against Austria in Hartberg . At the 2019 European Championships in Italy and San Marino , Anthony Caci was part of the French squad, but was not used.
