Ibrahima Sissoko, born in Meaux , is of Malian descent and began his football training in December 2006 at the local CS Meaux. In the summer of 2013 he moved to the youth department of the US Torcy Val-Maubuée and a year later he joined the offspring of Stade Brest . There he initially played in the U19s, but was promoted to the reserve team during the 2014/15 season, which played in the fifth-class National 3 championship. On July 21, 2015, he signed his first professional three-year contract with the club from western Brittany . On December 5, 2015, he made his debut in the 0-2 cup defeat against fourth division Stade Saint-Brieuc in the first team. On April 29, 2015 (36th matchday), he played his first game in the second-highest French division in the 2-0 home defeat against FC Évian Thonon Gaillard when he came on for Manuel Perez in the 73rd minute . In the remaining 2015/16 season , he played another league game.

In the following season 2016/17 he only appeared sporadically in the first team. This was on a direct promotion position for almost the entire season, but slipped back to fifth place in one of the tightest promotion decisions in league history - the champions Racing Strasbourg had three points more than the sixth in the table, Olympique Nîmes . Sissoko made a total of seven competitive appearances for the first team.

He made the jump into the starting line-up in the next 2017/18 season . On December 8, 2017 (18th matchday) he scored his first professional goal in a 3-0 home win against Football Bourg-en-Bresse Péronnas and prepared another goal for his team in this game. Four days later, he extended his contract until 2021. In the second half of the season he fell out of the starting line-up, but was on the field until the 118th minute of the game when he won the Coupe de la Ligue on March 30, 2019 against EA Guingamp . He ended the season with 19 league appearances in which he was able to score a goal.

On June 7, 2018, Ibrahima Sissoko moved to the first division club Racing Strasbourg for a transfer fee of two million euros , where he signed a four-year contract. Already in his debut in the top French division on August 12, 2018 (1st matchday), he was able to contribute one goal to the 2-0 away win against Girondins Bordeaux . In his first season 2018/19 he was able to quickly establish himself as a regular in midfield of the Alsatians and finished them with 32 league games in which he scored three goals.

In the following season 2019/20 he was no longer considered an absolute regular player, but was still regularly used by head coach Thierry Laurey . Until the league was canceled due to the Covid 19 pandemic , he had been used in 23 league games in which he could not score a goal.
