The Momarter oak

Momart is the smallest district of Bad König in the Odenwald district in southern Hesse .

Geographical location

Momart is surrounded by forest in the red sandstone area of the Odenwald on a plateau 1800 meters south of Bad König's castle square. In the field marking around 840 meters east of the town center, the 600-year-old Momarter oak stood until 2018 .

history

The place name appears as a field name as early as 819, when the a monte Mamenhart was mentioned. The first documentary mention took place in 1321. At that time the place was called Maminhard and later Mommenhart . Ore was mined near Momart in the Middle Ages. The hamlet of Heuselsmühle ( mill and cultural monument ) and the Schimmelshütte farm also belong to the Mommart district .

On October 1, 1971 Momart was incorporated into the community (from October 10, 1980 city) Bad König.
