Mooers is a town in Clinton County in the US state of New York . At the time of the 2010 United States Census , the Town of Mooers had 3,592 residents. The town is named after Benjamin Mooers , an early settler.
The town forms part of the northern limit of Clinton County and is northwest of Plattsburgh .

According to the United States Census Bureau , Mooers has a total area of 227.7 km 2 , of which 227.0 km 2 are land and 0.8 km 2 (= 0.33%) are water.
The northern border of the town forms part of the border between Canada and the United States and the province of Québec . The Great Chazy River flows east through the town.
The US Highway 11 runs east through Mooers and crosses in the village Mooers the eastern terminus of the New York State Route 22 .

history
The first white settlers came to the area around 1796. In 1803, the Town of Mooers was formed from parts of the Town of Champlain , and in 1830 part of Mooers was carved out to form the Town of Ellenburg .

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Mooers inhabited 3404 people. The population density was 15.0 people per km 2 . There were 1,431 housing units at an average of 6.3 per km 2 . The population in Mooers consisted of 98.09% of White , 0.21% Black or African American , 0.56% Native American , 0.24% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 0.24% said other races to belong and 0.68% named two or more races. 0.79% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of Mooers distributed to 1261 households out of which 36.9% were living in children under 18 years. 60.0% of households were married, 8.9% had a female head of the household without a husband and 25.4% were not families. 20.4% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 9.5% of all households aged 65 years or older.
